Heirs to the “export free zones” created from 1999 and renamed industrial acceleration zones (ZAI) in 2020, the region’s platforms form Morocco’s densest industrial network — combining a privileged tax and customs status, serviced land, on-site administrative windows and direct access to Tanger Med port.
The regional network
| Zone | Location | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Tangier Free Zone (TFZ) | Gzenaya, Tangier airport | Multi-sector: automotive, aerospace, textiles, electronics — the pioneer since 1999 |
| Tangier Automotive City (TAC) | Jouamaa, Tanger Med corridor | Tier-1 and tier-2 automotive suppliers |
| Renault Tangier platform | Melloussa | Renault plant and embedded suppliers |
| Medhub logistics zone | Inside Tanger Med port | Value-added logistics, regional distribution |
| Tetouan Park | Tetouan | Rental industrial and logistics park for SMEs |
| Tetouan Shore | Tetouan | Offshoring: customer experience, BPO, ITO |
| Mohammed VI Tangier Tech | Ain Dalia | 2,000-ha new industrial city, next-generation manufacturing |
| Fnideq commercial zone | Fnideq | Trade and distribution logistics |

The ZAI status in brief
- Corporate tax: full exemption for the first 5 financial years, then a reduced ZAI rate;
- VAT and import-duty exemptions on equipment and inputs;
- Suspensive customs regime with on-site clearance;
- Free repatriation of capital and profits for foreign investors;
- Single administrative window inside each zone.
Check before you commit. Rates and conditions evolve with each finance law — confirm the regime applicable to your project with the tax administration and the zone operator.
Choosing your zone
Match the zone to the business: export manufacturing → TFZ/TAC; logistics → Medhub; services → Tetouan Shore; SME production or a rental start → Tetouan Park. The investor pathway and the regional investment centre will point you to the right operator at no cost.
