In two decades the region has become Morocco’s export engine, capturing the bulk of the country’s industrial FDI. Seven sectors drive the momentum — each with an established ecosystem and clear entry points for new investors.
Automotive

Anchored by the Renault Tangier mega-plant, the cluster counts 230+ suppliers across wiring, seating, stamping, interiors and batteries, trained workforce pipelines (IFMIA) and port-integrated logistics. The electric-vehicle transition — high-voltage wiring, e-powertrain components — is the next wave of opportunity, alongside tier-2/3 localisation.
Logistics & port services
Built around the Mediterranean’s largest container port, the logistics sector (Medhub free zone, distribution platforms) serves global transshipment flows and Morocco–West Africa distribution alike. Openings: value-added warehousing, cold chain, cross-border e-commerce fulfilment, maritime services.
Aerospace & electronics
Tangier’s free-zone plants supply European OEMs with aerospace wiring, electronic components and mechatronics on a near-shore “best cost” model — one hour’s flight from Madrid. Sub-assembly and electrification components are the move up the value chain.
Textiles & leather

The historic cradle of Moroccan textiles now runs on speed: fast-fashion, denim and knitwear delivered to European retailers in days, with sustainability (recycling, traceability) and upstream integration as the new frontiers.
Agri-food
Loukkos berries, Chefchaouen and Ouezzane olive oil, seafood from five regional ports: strong upstream supply meets direct export logistics. Niches: freezing, premium canning, fresh-cut, natural ingredients, organic certification.
Tourism & real estate

Four complementary destinations — Tangier (city breaks, cruises, business), Tamuda Bay (premium resorts), Chefchaouen (culture), Al Hoceima (nature) — with the 2030 World Cup as accelerator. Needs: hotels, leisure, golf resorts, ecolodges, branded residences.
Offshoring & business services
Tetouan Shore and Tangier offer shared-services investors a trilingual talent pool (Arabic, French, Spanish — English rising), competitive costs and Europe’s time zone. Customer experience, finance BPO, ITO and software development grow at double digits.
Renewable energy

The Strait’s wind farms (including Khalladi, 120 MW) exploit continent-leading wind regimes. Wind, distributed solar and tomorrow green hydrogen position the region to offer industry decarbonised, competitive power.
